Go into Design Mode ( View, ToolBars, Control Toolbox (on)) then click the
design icon on the toolbar, click on your checkbox and click the Control
Toolbox icon for propertys, in the property list scroll down to Value and
change it from False to True.

Hope this helps.

that doesn't work. i can't select properties when I have the options

I'm not sure what you mean buy having the options box open, should just have
it selected, then you should be able to click the "Properties" icon in
Control Toolbox, should be the icon next to the "Design" icon.

I have no problem with the "Iteration" checkbox re-checking when closing and
re-opening Excel(2002 or 97).

This setting is saved with the workbook. i.e. not a global setting.

Perhaps you have some code in your Personal.xls or an Add-in which alters the
setting.
