Simple Q on network printing

Peter

I have a PC (1) with a printer attached to it, running under Admin.
This is networked to another PC (2) which is running under a non-admin
user.

If (2) is run under the same Admin login as (1) then as one would
expect I can print from it OK. But if the restricted user is logged in
on (2) and tries to print, nothing prints out and I can't change the
printer properties etc.

On the printer I have a share set up, with Everyone having total
access to the printer.

What might be missing?? It's got to be something very simple.

Create on (1) the same user account as on (2).

Thank you ! I did wonder about that, but I don't want that user to be
able to login into the (1) computer (which is right next to (2))

NP.
You may want to reconnect the printer from (1) to (2), and delete User
account from (1).

Won't deleting the user account from (1) stop the printer working from
(2)?

The 1 would have only Admin account, and the 2 would have both Admin and
User accounts. Do not tell me all shared resources for User are on (1). :oP

1: my PC (with printer attached), logins are just Admin
2: my kids' PC, logins are Joe, and also Admin

I now have printing working from both 1 and 2, but to make 2 see the
printer which is attached to 1, 1 needs to have the same User set up
(Control Panel -> Users and Passwords -> Add etc) so now I have

1: my PC (with printer attached), logins are Joe, and also Admin
2: my kids' PC, logins are Joe, and also Admin

The problem is that Joe can now log in into either the kids' PC
(great) and into my PC (not so great; even a restricted user can mess
things up)

I have tried deleting Joe's user account from 1 but the moment I do
that, 2 can't access the printer anymore.

What I need is a way to retain Joe's "account" on 1 but stop him
logging in into 1. I can't see an option for this anywhere.

It's painful, Peter, I see. As I mentioned, only moving printer to Joe's box
will eliminate his logon onto your box programmatically in the workgroup
environment. The rest is physical restrictions...
