I have 2 computers, one running XP-Professional the other
running XP-Home. They both have ethernet network cards.
I'm trying to use a crossover cable to connect the two so
that they become a network. I'm able to see each other
computer on the network I named "MSHOME". However I
cannot access the resources on one computer to see/open
the other computer. I get the error message,

"...You might not have permission to use this network
resource. Contact the administrator of this server to
find out if you have access permissions...The network
path was not found."

I have the same login password for each computer and have
run the "Setup" wizard for creating a home network. Does
anyone have any idea how to fix this? I need some help....

Wish I could give you a way to fix this. I am having the
same problem. I have two machines running XP Pro and I am
using a Linksys 5-port hub. I receive the same error
message. One machine (A) accesses the other (B) with no
problem. But when B tries to access A I receive the error
you have below. If anyone can help, please do.

Brian,

Thanks for the input! I have Zonealarm running on both
machines, so I'll try your suggestion tonight. Thanks!

I got caught with ZAP recently. It made the network "Internet zone" instead
of "Trusted zone" and naturally sharing didn't work. Changing back to
"Trusted zone" fixed the problem. If that doesn't work, you should uninstall
your ZA while you are troubleshooting.
