OK...my head is about to explode like in the
movie "Scanners":

If Machine A makes 100 per minute and
Machine B makes 50 per minute
Isn't Machine A 100% faster than Machine B and
Machine B is 50% slower than Machine A

Machine A makes 2.032 per minute and
Machine B makes 1.623 per minute so
Machine A is 2.33% faster and
Machine B is 43.52% slower?

I'm so confused.

Using your first example as a basis:

Machine A:

=(2.032/1.623)-1 ===> 25.20%

faster than machine B.

Likewise, Machine B is

=1-(1.623/2.032) ===> 20.13%

slower than Machine A.

First, establish the *difference* between the two.
2.032 minus 1.623 equals 0.409

Now, the relationship is 0.409 divided by whichever way you want to go.

0.409 divided by 2.032 equals 20.13% difference (slower).
0.409 divided by 1.623 equals 25.20% difference (faster).

A1: 4
A2: 3

A3: =A1/A2-1 ----> A1 is 33.3% faster than A2

*or* another way of saying it is:

A2 is 25% (1 - 3/4) slower than A1

*or* another way of saying it is:

A2 is 75% (3/4) that of A1.
