Spare Brain

Hi,

I have two machines connected to home LAN - machine A has WinXP-Pro; machine
B has WinXP-HomeMediaEd.

Machine A is configured for office use and is configured to be part of
workgroup (say abc.comp.com). Machine B is configured for home workgroup
called MSHOME.

I have no problem mapping the drive of machine A when on machine B. But when
I try to map the drive of machine B when on machine A, it keeps repeating
the password question to me over and over!! It would suggest
192.168.0.2\Administrator or Administrator, but it fails and keeps popping
the password question!

Any hints folks on what I'm doing wrong here? I tried wading through the
machine B's user account setup, but it does not have a whole lot of options
to start with that I can be messing up. I don't know if it even makes sense
to touch settings on machine A!

Thanks
SB

Turn off windows simple file sharing - Go to <My Computer<>Tools>Folder options> Click the VIEW tab and scroll to bottom of list. Clear the check box. If you turn off Simple File Sharing, you have more control over the permissions to individual users. However, you must have advanced knowledge of NTFS and share permissions to help keep your folders and files more secure. If you turn off Simple File Sharing, the Shared Documents feature is not turned off. I remember reading somewhere that windows attempts to use the default 'Guest account' to log on if the Simple sharing is used however usually the guest account is off - this may or may not be true.

Cheers
