Simple help with forms please

Two questions please:-
1. I have a database designed for recording client details and history, some
of my linked forms do open at the correct client details when opened with
command button, I have others that no matter how i look dont seem to open at
the correct client. If I add new record on the form it does then show the
correct contactID number but doesnt seem to save the record when i complete
the form. When I open it again it just shows contactID 1 again and one saved
record.
and
2. I want to run the database on two separate pc's and share the info at
athe end of the day, only problem being that the generated autonumbers will
clash!! Is there any way of setting the autonumber to start at a higher value
on one of the systems to avoid duplication of autonumbers??

Update, problem 1 solved just me being a plank and missing a link on my
subfom which links the forms together.
Just problem 2 to sort, but im sure there will be many more things ill need
to ask.
