The headline says it all, really.
I'm building my own media centre PC.
I am looking for a passively cooled pci-e card that can handle 840x480
(yes that is an 8 in the 840 not a 6) screen (a panasonic plasma
widescreen). The plasma screen accepts 4:3 resolutions like 640x480 but
XP (using powerDVD or media player) then gets confused about aspect
ratio when displaying normal 16:9 DVDs and puts them in a thin letterbox
as if the screen were really 4:3.
I looked at the X300SE from a couple of manufacturers but their manuals
didn't list 840x480 in the possible resolutions.
I am currently using a Geforce 5200 in a pci slot which supports 840x480
but it has a noisy fan AND I want the PCI slot freed for another card.
Thank you for any advice you can give.
