Silent Auction Results

Hello Friends,

I have searched the archives for this solution, but have found no
satisfactory suggestions. I involves PP (2003) and Excel (2003)
We are having a silent auction which will have about 100 items. The data
will be accumulated in Excel in the colums...Bid #, Item# and Value of item
purchased. So 3 columns wide about 100 rows deep.

We want to be able to display the results via PowerPoint.

What I have done so far is make a blank slide and "insert/object/create from
file" and then browse to the Excel file. The result is a slide that is
compressed and runs off the slide. Because of time constraints at the end of
the auction, I do not have time to cut and paste the excel results to many
slides. I tried to change the page layout of the slide, but that did not
work well either.

What I have done since is paste the auction results to a Word document
(landscape) and then rearranged the results in 3 columns. Then I saved as a
PDF and in PP I did an "insert/object/create from file" and then browsed to
the PDF file.

This worked in creating one slide that I think is readable, but I lost any
background color and pattern.

There must be an easier way.

Why don't you apply an animation to the excel table to scroll up the slide,
rather than trying to spread it across many slides?
Another alternative is to link the appropriate rows from your spreadsheet
across many slides. Then update your spreadsheet. When you open the
presentation, it should prompt you to update the presentation from the linked
source spreadsheet:

Couldn't really apply an animation to the excel table to scroll up the slide
to work, but the link approach did seem to work well. Thanks for the help.

You could also add a Microsoft Spreadsheet object from the Controls
Toolbar (it's under the last idcon on the toolbar, the hammer and
wrench toolbar button). Then copy your spreadsheet to the cliboard,
start the slide show and paste the cliipboard contents into the
spreadsheet object. You can then scroll the spreadsheet like a real
spreadsheet during the slide show.
