Sil3112A or ICH5/R: Which superior for Sata Raid 0?

New build with an Epox 4PDA2+ and 2 - 36 gig Raptors for RAID 0 system
drive. Which controller is superior? Using the Silicon image has the
advantage of leaving the Intel pri and sec IDE channels free for
conventional use (I think), but I understand it may consume more PCI
bandwidth. This is only a general purpose home machine so that may not
be an issue.

Brand new to RAID and SATA. Thanks,
Dave

You can use all four ICH5 channels, just not in DOS. Using the ICH5 is the
only way to avoid the 100MB/s PCI bottleneck.

Oh?! Why is that?

Are devices on all channels available through Int13?

I keep confusing the two channel compatibity mode with other limitations.

Hi,
The Intel ICH5-R is better than the Silicon image. Stick your 2 Raptors on
the Intel raid-0 and you will be laughing.

Thanks Eric and Wayne for your input.
