I am trying to create my own signature in outlook express. I want it to have my name in cursive and a small picture from clipart. When I try to make a new signature and hit, select a file. I continually get the message * not a valid text file.
How can I make a valid text file, using Lucinda handwriting and inserting a pic. I tried to make a small file in Paint, but it was not a valid text file.... Can you help me? Is my question clear?

I never had any luck myself. If you can't find what you want to do,
check this site out.

That didn't really help. All I want to do is write two words, and insert one little pic..... How can I create a valid text file to display the signature?? Anyone know?

Kelly
Thank you so much... It worked!!!!
I am so excited.... I have been trying to get this to work for the longest time... but was in the signature tab....
Again,,,Thanks, Deborah

ivanann,
You have created a "Stationery" file rather than just a signature
file... If you would
like full instructions on how to do what you asked in the first place, go to
my site
below and go to page 3 and hit the E Mail button on the left and ask me... I
was
going to put the instructions for sig files on the site but just haven't
gotten around
to it as yet... Let me know.

Uhmm, Burt....why should she have to do that? Why can't it be posted here?

A txt file is not difficult at all, but she wanted to add a picture and that
is the easiest way.

To add a Txt File:

Create a txt file (using notepad) say on your desktop.
Add the Signature Wanted.
Go to Tools/Options/Signature/New
Edit Signature/File/Browse to Txt File on desktop.
Set as Default.

Advanced/Select accordingly.
Signature Settings: Add sigs/Don't add sigs.

Done Deal.

Sorry Kelly,
I guess I do it a little differently and yes, I suppose my way
is a little more complex. I make small html files and then under
the Signatures tab, I enter them as NEW like you said and go
down and radio the FILE and set it there. I make some sig files
that are pretty catchy little devils with a small gif, some text
and a sound when you put your mouse over them and as well they
contain a "mailto:" when you click on them... As for not just posting
it here, I was thinking I might make her a custom one and for free
at that.. I have made many of them for different folks.. I have
a bunch of them that I made for myself and when you hit INSERT
Sig, of course the fly out menu lists them all and makes for easy
selection depending on whom I might be sending them too.. Ha Ha
on that last part..

Kelly,
NO, I do not charge for this... I like helping people just like
you and the other MVP's and I answer as many posts as I can within
my abilities. I have had to take a little time out here in the past
couple weeks... Spring "break-up" here in Alaska is the worst time
of year and I have quite a bit of outdoor work to do cleaning up
the mess from winter..
Burt

No David, that is not what I meant at all... Sorry for the
misunderstanding.. Kelly asked if I charged for it and I
said NO and I meant nothing else by my reply..
Burt

You said "and for free at that.." implying the others weren't.

That is the way, I read it. Oh well..... carry on guys. :o)
