I created a .html signature file using MS Word. I then added the signature in
Windows Mail, referring to the correct file. However, when I tried to use the
signature, Mail said the file was too large.

I then reopened the file in MS Word, copied the entire contents, went back
to Windows Mail, Tools, Options, Signatures, and pasted the contents as a new
Signature locally stored in Mail. It worked perfectly.

So, the question is: What are the limitations on Signature file sizes or
other aspects of their use.

limit is supposed to be 4k.

Mikey,

Right on and thank you very much!

It wasn't obvious because the file contents are less than 350 characters.
However, opening it with a text editor reveals all the MS Office formatting
junk for all the styles in my "normal.dot"--not too many, actually, but they
added up to a couple of K or so which, plus the things that needed (at least,
I think so) to be there, brought it up to about 5k and change. Eliminating a
few unknown styles in the text editor shrunk it enough to work.

Thanks again!

PS--Microsoft, please add this to the Help for the topic in Windows Vista!!

In my immediately prior reply, "unknown" should read "unused"!

Sorry for the death of brain! <grin>

In Word you can use Save As | Filtered HTML to get rid of some of that crap
too.
