Signature Colors

I have changed my signature colors from purple to black
but when I open a new email my signature color is purple.
When I check the default signature it is black.

Why does it show up purple when I compose a new email?
How can I change it to black so that it stays?

Please help.

When you change the color make sure all the text you want to change color
for is selected (use CTRL+A for instance) and then change the color.

I did that. I don't understand. My default signature
says that it is the color I want but when I compose a new
email it is purple.

What is the format of the newly created message? Make sure it is HTML.
