Hi,
is it possible to enable auto-update for signatures without enable schedules
scanning?
I didn't find this option :(
If I disable scheduled scanning, signature auto-update becomes gray and no
more selectable...

if it's not present, can you add it in next build?

Not in the way you would like. But if you disable Automatic Scanning you can
still be informed when there are definition updates available thru the
Windows Update Service provided you have it enabled in Control Panel>Security
Centre>Automatic Updates.

Hi Provolino,

WD is updating with "MS Auto Update"
So if that is on, you get your updates.

Additionally, if you want to schedule it for yourself:

c:\program files\windows defender\mpcmdrun -SignatureUpdate

should accomplish the job, scheduled via the Windows Scheduler. You may
need to play with quote marks to get it right. You can schedule that as
often as you'd like--but of course new definitions will only arrive when
they are released--which is in the neighborhood of twice a week or so.

Hello Provolino,

Reporting these issues here, in these newsgroups, is the mechanism available.
