sign in on web pages expires

My client is having a problem signing in to web sites such as E-bay and game
sites. He used to sign in once on a session but now they keep signing him
out automatically after a minute or two and he has to constantly sign back
in.

One of the tech support people said that this may have be due to a setting
in IE>

Can anyone help? Thanks
 
Windows version? IE version? How does the machine connect? Is a router
involved?
