hey i'm hiving a prob w the sidewinder plug and play
controller. It was working fine, I plugged it into my
other comp and then when i tried to move it back it would
not detect it. I have checked all of the settings in game
controllers, where it is not showing the plug and play
version only the 3d pro. I have tried using the custom
settings but that isn't working. The comp won't detect it
if i un/plug it, but all the usb settings appear to be
fine. There are no probs in device mangler that i could
find. Oh yeah Xp, all sp installed.
And yes this does relate to games. I just got madden 2004
and nhl 2004 AND I WANT TO PLAY
LOL thanx for any help

no dice on that one I've updated the dx, obviously
restarted, made sure there was no static. changed usb
ports. Yes it does meet the min requirements. The only
one i'm not going to try is the re install of teh usb
stuff since it was working a few hrs ago i don't think
that is the prob.
Oh it was the plug and play sidewinder. I have read as
much as possible on the sidewinder site and MS site to
try and fix it but w no luck. I tried add remove hardware
and it is not showing the device in there either. I was
thinking maybe it is lookin to the sound card not the usb
for the device, any thoughts?
I get my other controller back tomorrow so maybe i can
see if it is just a bug w that controller

Thanx again

Have you perhaps "tweaked" your system by shutting down some Services? I'd
go into Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services and check to make sure
Universal Plug and Play is enabled and running. Also, depending on your
motherboard and whether the USB slot is built in, and whether you're running
an AMD chipset, you may need to update the drivers for the board itself.

no dice there i checked the settings and nothing was
changed and I am doubtful that it has anything to do w
updating drivers since it was working a few hrs ago,
until it was unplugged and then plugged back in an hr or
so later. Usb slot are fine i double check w my printer
to see that all of them were functioning.

Once again thanks for all the help u guys/girls are great

Then - don't laugh - try this: Unplug the controller and gently take a
paperclip and run it over the outside and (easy) inside of the USB plug.
Sometimes static electricity builds up in the connectoid.

If that doesn't work, do you have a friend you could have try the controller
on his/her system to verify that it does work?

No man i wouldn't laugh I worked as a techy for 2 yrs at
a computer shop. It works on my other computer fine there
is something wrong with the settings on it. When i try to
go the game controllers it is serching through the game
port on the sound card. I think it is not detecting it,
plug and play is activated. not sure what else to say

thanks again

Game port on the sound card, huh? Have you updated the drivers on that
card? I believe you said this was working before, so maybe an update of the
drivers killed it and the action would be to use Roll Back Driver in Device
Manager?

nope that wasn't the prob. this is usb so i'm guessing
that shouldn't be it. It just isn't delecting it and
installing the drivers. I wish they would let u download
the drivers, that would prob fix it i'm running out of
things to try. I have tried it in all the usb ports let
it sit to make sure it wasn't taking its time. I'll keep
plugging away on it.

Dude i owe u a beer
