I have inherited a Microsoft Sidewinder joystick - but it
did not come with any software and it is a really old
looking model. Pat No91853 (serial number 60040848 Made in
Taiwan) very old looking very heavy and a distinct lack of
modernity about it - hardly any buttons...) It also has a
cable built in which seems to have a connector on the end
which I can only describe as being of scart type (The only
place it would fit on my PC would be in the sceeen port)
So 2 questions - where can I get the software for this
sidewinder? and how do I connect it to my PC? My email
address is (e-mail address removed)

Many thanks

Brian

It's a gameport joystick and you do not appear to have a gameport controller
on your PC.

They are outdated controllers now but you do find them still on many
separate soundcards.

Unless you wish to purchase a new soundcard, the joystick is best passed to
someone with an older model PC which still has a gameport controller on it.

Should you purchse a soundcard, the drivers are already built into XP....
simply connect joystick to gameport controller and then go to the Control
Panel, Game Controllers and use AutoDetect. XP will install the drivers
automatically.
