Hi.
When I'm trying to use my SideWinder Wheel (connected through game port) I
can't get it to work correctly. (Windows XP, Midtown Madness 2). The wheel is
detected and I'm able to calibrate it. But as soon as I'm running the game,
the car is going backwards.

The problem comes from the device defaults to a split pedal device and
Midtown Madness doesn't understand this. Try calibrating the device and hold
the gas pedal down halfway when the calibration routine tells you to center
the device. You will then have to hold hte pedal in the game half way down
to idle, foot off would be brake/reverse, and pressed past half would be
gas.

Are you saying MS hasn't provided any software at all for their Wheel
products under XP, e.g. customized control panel applet? Geez, I would have
expected at least combined/split pedals and forces adjustments as a minimum.

Hello.

Thanks, then I know and can stop trying.

Microsoft has "stopped" supporting gamepotrt devices. They "seem" to also
have dropped their gaming products for the PC. They will not be providing
software or new device drivers for the gameport (joystick) device besides
the drivers that ship within XP (32bit). Windows 64Bit apparently does not
support gameports at all.
