Jimmy,
thanks for the advice, but it still isn't working. When I
do as you suggest, I get an error "Gameport or Gameport
drive is not properly configured. Please check divice
drivers". This is a USB Sidewinder. Also, when I plug
the controller into the USB port, the computer sees it,
and give an error message to the effect that the
controller is not compatible with Windows XP. You you
have any other suggestions?

Thanks again

joey

I think the error about being incompatible was from the software when he
tried to install so he probably aborted it. You can safely install the
software. That was written before Windows XP was developed so it doesn't
recognize the Operating System. The software hasn't been known in my test
lab to cause any problems. Please let me know if you find this to not be the
case. Also, if you don't care about remapping buttons on the controller to
keyboard keys or making macro's then you don't need the software at all.
Just plug in the device and it will give you regular joystick data that
games can use. The hardware drivers are already in the OS.

The warning is that it isn't compatible with Windows 2000, which XP isn't.
It is okay to ignore, and the software installs fine.

Hi Chris,
The warning is the hardware is not recognized as being XP
logoed. I'm interpreting that is meaning not compat with
XP.

Joey

Thanks for the help and advice!

If you have a USB SideWinder controller, have you installed the software

it yet?
