No, it is already in Windows XP, Milt. Plug the controller in, go to
Control Panel/Game Controllers and select Add. Then browse the listing for
Microsoft SideWinder (Auto Detect) and XP will install the basic drivers for
you
The reason the v.3.x drivers cannot be installed is they're written a vxd
format which is no longer supported on XP. However, the system will install
the controller for you. The loss is you can no longer create profiles or
switch the button controls in Control Panel. You can do that, though,
within games which support that in their options.
