Something has gone awry with my Windows XP Pro SP3 configuration.
I can no longer start the service for my backup client software.
The following is in the system event log.
I have searched all over for answers.

Event 59
Resolve Partial Assembly failed for Microsoft.VC80.ATL. Reference error
message: Access is denied.
..
9:16:54
Event 59
Generate Activation Context failed for c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL
Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Binn\sqlservr.exe.
Reference error message: The operation completed successfully.

Files\Retrospect\Retrospect Client\retroclient.exe" on line 0.

9:44:48

I have completely uninstalled the client software, removed directories, and
cleaned out the registry with Avanquest SystemSuite Pro 8, and reinstalled
the software.

Please help.
Thank you,
Wayne

The problem is within the backup software (Retrospect??)

I too encountered a Retrospect backup problem. It was not easy to
repair, even when placing it back to "factory" settings (remove and
reinstalled the "original" version.) Dumped it and went to a
different backup software.

The more I investigate, the more I am convinced that the problem occurred
when I was configuring Outlook for the first time to fetch my ISP mail and
the Small Business Contact Manager asked me if I wanted to configure it. I
selected No, or Cancel, whatever it was. This was also after installing
Office 2007 SP2. When I canceled that SBM thing, something did not get
backed out. From that point on I have had a variety of weird problems:
Toshiba Power Saver crashes during boot.

I am reinstalling Office 2007 and SP2. Will write back as things develop.

I think the problem is more with "Look-Out!" than Retrospect. I am also
seeing the need for Drive Imaging backups.

Thanks,
/wws

Did this problem ever get resolved? I have same problem while trying to
get the external USB drive(side by side) to load drivers.
Try reinstalling the VC++ 2005 run time libraries. Hopefully you can find a
version that will work with your application.
