whenever there is an application with a pop up window that bothers me I
just minimize all windows
and then I select the ones that I want to see

when I do that in vista the sidebar is gone too
if I select any window the sidebar is back again

anyone else seen that?

Hi,

You mean winkey+d? Sure, the idea of that trigger is to clear the desktop -
to me at least, that would include clearing an otherwise intrusive sidebar.

nope, the icon in the quick launch bar but the same effect is triggered

why minimize the sidebar if you do allow the taskbar to remain in
sight?
couldn't that be considered as intrusive then?

I consider the sidebar to be an extension of the systray
what would be the use of any toolbar showing real time events if it
disappears or gets overlayered all of the time?

Try Win-M.

Why don't you disable the Sidebar altogether. Apart from being pretty, its
function is a bit superflous anyway. The so-called "gadgets" can all be put
on your desktop by other means, or even on the taskbar shortcut list if that
is your preference.

Don't suppose you folks have a list of Windows Vista keyboard shortcuts that
you can share? It sure would be appreciated. Thanks.

I just learned that one recently myself ("minimize all"). I don't know
if/where a complete list exists.

Thank you for a good laugh this morning. The fact that a Microsoft employee
is still learning keyboard shortcuts for Vista through word of mouth is ...
well, it makes you all human. :)

I suppose I could just try to find them all through trial and error. My
only fear is that I'll stumble across one that means "erase all contents of
disk without confirmation" (lol).

Anyway, thanks for you reply. If you stumble across a list at some point,
please consider posting it.
