Sick of passwords

My neighbor has a computer with windows 2000 proffessional, he does not
remember the passwords and such, just the basic user one that cannot modify
programs.

Example, I want to run msconfig.exe on his system but cannot because of
stupid passwords.

He got this machine from one of his students (he is a flight instructor for
the big big planes) back a few years ago. The student is long gone and he
would like to be able to get rid of some of the crap from over the years.

My ultimate goal is to have unfeathered access to everything, is there a way
to do this without wiping current info as there are alot of really important
maps in the machine for flying.
