What causes the cursor to freeze up? Usually hitting Esc. will fix it but
today I had to shut down the hard drive and reboot. I had another mouse to
try before I shut it down and it didn't work either.
What do I need to do now oh smart ones?? :-)

Smart ones? Can we read your mind? I don't think so. What kind of mouse do
you have? Wireless? PC? USB?

That wasn't very nice.........
It's a Gateway, Logitech, USB.

Have you tried another USB port?

Ask a question with a wise-ass tone (| > What do I need to do now oh smart
ones?? :-))
, then take exception to an answer in the same vein? And you STILL didn't
provide the KEY information requested? And we STILL can't read you mind,
or, more to the point, see your system.

IF a battery operated mouse, then a low battery will cause a cursor freeze
(or intermittent operation.)
IF not a battery operated mouse, then a bad cable or connector will ...
IF not a USB mouse, then plugging in a second mouse when the cursor is
frozen, it WON'T work either.

And then there other questions: does the keyboard operate? Is all computer
activity frozen? Do you get a request to send an error report to Microsoft
when you reboot?

See, it's like me asking you - Should I feed my pet chocolate candy as a
rare treat? Now if you could read my mind or see my pet is a dog, then the
answer would be no, chocolate can kill a dog.

You might try going to the start menu, choosing Help and Support, click on
Index (on the navigation bar) then, in the left pane, select "list of
Troubleshooters" then choose the one called "Input devices" and follow the
steps. Hope this helps

"Smart ones" is a complement! How can it be wireless if it has a USB
connector?
Thanks but I'll wait for an adult to answer my question.

Is 'oh smart ones' nice? You still didn't identify your mouse. Wireless?

Your attitude is going to make it impossible to benefit from this forum.
'Unknown' gave an example of the type of information you needed to post.
Information you still haven't posted. You are asking for advice, then
refusing to cooperate by posting the necessary information. And, guess
what? Any wireless mouse has a receiver that is connected to a computer by
.... wait for it ... a physical connector - usually USB.

You need to have an adult post your question.
