Shutting Down

In XP Windows hangs when the message "Windows is shutting down."

I have left the machine running for hours to see whether it would eventually
shut down. Instead, I must turn off the computer and restart it.

Please help. Thank you.
 
I have the same problem and I have installed all the
updates, and the problem is not solved...
