I receive an error message when I'm shutting down in XP,
is there anyway I can freeze the screen so I can actually
read the message, it pops up and down just before
shutdown, and also I don't know if its connected but it
also take ages to load my personal settings. I have run
my anit-virus program and also checked for trojans, and
al is clear. All I can think of is that I have deleted
something that I shouldn't have. Other than this problem
my computer seems to run fine.

You say "it pops up and down", which leads me to believe
that what you are seeing is not an error message. It
sounds as if what you see is a notification box saying
that something is shutting down, and then if you watch
closely you might see blue bars run across and the box
disappears. The machine then continues its shutdown. No
problem. My machine does this occasionally, and I do not
consider it to be a problem. If I'm wrong, then maybe
someone will put me straight.
