Shutting down options

Help...presently when I shut down my computer asks me to wait then I get the
:It's now safe to turn off your computer" messsage and I have to manually
turn off the computer via on/off switch. How can I change this to an
automatic shutdown?

Enable it in BIOS, if the system is compatible...but if XP didn't install as
ACPI compliant, you may end up with a repair install.

From Start | Control Panel click on Power Options or first click on
Performance and Maintenance, then Power Options. Is there an APM tab?
If so click on that and enable APM.
