shutting down computer automaticaly

if i fall asleep while watching a movie on the computer, and there are alot
of other programmes going like downloading of drivers for my computer, how
can i make it possible for my computer to shut down after a certain period of
time? i have set that in my properties thing, and changed the settings in
windows media player, but it still won't work!!! can someone please help me?>
