Hello Chi,
Here's a suggestion that might work.
Set up a playlist of what tunes you want to listen to first. If it's
something to go to sleep to, perhaps an hour of music would suffice.
Now click Start, Control Panel. Click on "Switch to Classic View" (unless
it's already in Classic View), and double click Power Options.
On the Power Schemes tab, Select System Standby for whatever time you deem
fit. What this does is set your computer to a standby state (using a heck
of a lot less power) after being idle for the time frame you select.
It's not a complete shutdown of your computer, but it DOES accompish what I
think you're trying to do, which is conserver power and not have the hum of
a PC disturbing you all night long.
I'd also recommend shutting off your monitor once you launch your playlist,
so that you get no monitor glow to disturb you.
Hope that helps!
