shutdown, restart, logoff

shutdown, restart and logoff do not work if following this path: START -
SHUTDOWN - REASTART, SHUTDOWN, LOGOFF CURRENT USER. It will shut down
manually in about 2 seconds, but I know repeated "hard shutdowns" are not
good for my PC. Installed is WIN2000 SP4 O.S.

I was told it was prolly a setup in my BIOS , but I went through that
yesterday and could not find a place for shutdown or restart.

Any info will be helpful, the more detailed the better.

Thanx,
Tony L.

Hello Tony,

What do you mean wiht your "path"? Do you choose all the options one after
the other?

What I am saying with my "path" is that if you follow "START -> SHUT DOWN" or "START MENU -> RESTART" or "START MENU -> LOGOFF CURRENT USER" nothing happens, it does not "hang" "freeze" notrhing, the restart, shutdown and logoff user options do absolutely nothing, I have to hard shut down everytime.

Hello Tony,

How long did you wait until you press the power button? It exists a policy
that clears the RAM before shutting down.

We have waited as long as over night. It does nothing but shut off our
anti-virus and it shuts off my Webshots, it has been this way ever since we
loaded windows on it.
