Hi,

recently my shutdown and restart buttons disappeared. I have done numerous
spyware scans and virus checks, and it all comes up clear. I have modified
the group policies several times with still no success. I have resorted to
making some registry changes, but none of those have worked thus far.

I need help!

Thankyou in advance!

Hi Dave!

Thanks for the reply, but I have tried both of those options. Anything else?

The 1st solution you gave me wasn't even in the registry, so that means it
was never enabled/created.

The second solution you gave is set to "not configured". Which should mean
it is disabled by default. To make sure I have set this to disabled and
re-started the pc before but it still didn't fix my problem.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Try deleting them both then restart for effect. Also what happens if you
logon as a new user? (create a new account in 'Users and Passwords').

Deleting them both? Sorry I don't understand :)

There is about 5 users and all of them have the shutdown and restart buttons
missing, the administrator account is also included in this!

But I will create a new user and see what happens. thanks!

Delete the Reg_Dword values 'NoClose'

found at;

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
and
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Then restart for effect.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for that last post! It did just the trick!!!

Deleting the Reg_Dword values 'NoClose' from
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer fixed it!!

Weirdly enough the second registry entry didnt exist (the NoClose
entry)....but it doesnt matter, the 1st one works!

Thanks a million!! Thought I was never going to get to the bottom of it!

Cheers! :D

Matt
