I have some computers in my school (Dell gx110s and Gx260s)
that will power off properly in windows 2k when you hit
the power button you can walk away while it logs off and
shuts down. Then I have a batch of computers that dont
power off right it. when you shut down you have to press
the power button after wards to turn the computer off.

I noticed on the computers that shut down right in power
options under advanced theres when I press the power
button shut off. On the ones that dont its not present.
This really sucks because I cant shut down a lab remotely
without having to walk over and manually power them off.

Enable APM on the problematic computers, this should
resolve the problem. If it is enabled, verify that the
machine supports it, as it should. You may also want to
try running apmstat, a utility that will check the status
of APM calls in Windows 2000. Download from
www.microsoft.com/downloads.

Enabling APM in Poewr Options in and of itself should
resolve the problem.
