I just had to do a new install (not a repair) on my Win2K
partition. Before when I shut down it swithcedthe PC off,
now it tells me it is safe to switch it off - any ideas
how to get back like it was before -this is a pain?

Also - the boot up is now different. I get to select the
type of install (Professional or just Windows with a 30
second timeout) It never did this before and I don't want
to do it now either. I don't understand why it has
changed. I never specifically set anything the first time
I did it so why is it different now?

Thanks,

Rod

Hello Rod,

Please review the following Knowledge Base article for steps on resolving
the shutdown issue.
810903 "It is Now Safe to Turn Off Your Computer" Error Message When You
Try to
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=810903

The boot selection you are seeing is coming from a file called "boot.ini".
The file resides at the root of your system volume and it is used to
provide a path for finding your operating system. When there is more that
one boot option in this file, then it will provide a default timeout of 30
seconds. This can changed as follows.

1) Open Control Panel.
2) Double click the "System" icon.
3) Select the "Advanced" tab of the "System Properties" page.
4) Click the "Startup and Recovery" button.
5) Edit the "System startup" options as desired.
