Shutdown Problem

If my new vista home premium desktop ever goes into "sleep" mode, shutdown at
a later time becomes impossible. It takes several clicks of the shutdown
button to even start the shutdown process. Then it just freezes at the
shutdown screen. As an alternative to shutdown, can I just turn off my power
strip breaker when it's sleeping?

I'd be more inclined to remove the option for going into Sleep, if you
can't find a resolution to the issue. Control Panel > Power Options >
Change Plan Settings > Put the computer to sleep (set at "Never")

I'm having a similar problem when I try to shut down my computer at a later
time after resuming from sleep. I don't know if the same is true for you,
but when I shut down, the sidebar disappears, then the computer just idles,
but if you wait long enough, it will shut down.

I'm having the identical problem- sidebar thing and all. But maybe I have not
waited long enough for it to shut down. I gave up at about 15 minutes,
thinking that it was enough time to wait. I'll try waiting longer. Definitely
a Vista bug. IS MICROSOFT LISTENING???
