Shutdown problem

I have a strange problem onmy sons new PC. When you shutdown the computer
appears to power down normally but if you touch the mouse or key board it
then reboots itself.
Any thoughts?

It doesn't sound like you are really shutting down the machine. It
sounds like the machine is going into Standby. Check the Power settings
applet in Control Panel for options.

Hi,
Well actually your computer is not powered down.. its in standby mode. .You
have to manually click on shut down hitting enter usually makes the PC goto
standby

Thank you, I tried that but the problem still persists, I think you are right
that t goes into standby, the problem seems to be how to actually get it to
shut down. Any further thoughts would be apprecaited.

Create a shortcut to th following location

%windir%\System32\shutdown.exe -s

if u dbl lick this shortcut icon. the system will shutdown
