Recently, every time I shutdown my computer, I get an
error alert, but the computer shuts down successfully
before I get an error message. Everything runs fine, so
I don't know what this error sound if for. What would
cause this and how do I fix it?

Are you getting the ding in addition to the usual shutdown music? Perhaps
the sound for shutdown got reassigned the ding - Control Panel/Sounds and
Audio Devices, Sounds tab, check what sound is attached to Exit Windows.

Hi,

The same thing is happening with my PC when shutting down WinXP. Every time
there is an error sound, just before the Windows shutdown sound, and only
once there was an error message displayed for a very short time saying
"Unable to execute because Windows is shutting down". Any ideas what this
could be?
