I elected to use the clearance option of my paging file when using shut down
on Vista, I cannot now find how to stop using it, as it takes far to long to
do a restart during normal operating times.
Can anyone point me to the commnad to stop the option please?

Hi Kipper,

This involves a change to the registry. Open the registry editor by clicking
the start orb and typing 'regedit' into the search box. This program will
appear in the 'Programs' section of the results panel. Right click on it and
select 'Run as administrator'. After providing administrative credentials,
the program will open. Browse to the following location:
'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory
Management'. One of the entries here is 'ClearPageFileAtShutdown', and it is
this entry that needs modifying. Right click on the name and select
'Modify...'. The current value is probably 1 and this needs to be changed to
0. Click 'OK' and then close the registry editor.

Cheers Dwarf, thats great, it was so simple to set up to try to stop crashes
etc, but I could not find a way of stopping the clearing the paging file.
Thank you for your speedy reply and help, best rgds Kipper

Did you use the group policy editor initially? The option there would be
easy to enable/disable.

Computer Config/Windows Settings/Security Settings/Local policies/Security
options

enable/disable Shutdown: clear memory pagefile
