Shut-down/restart issue

When I attempt to shut down my piece via "start -> Shut-
Down -> (click drop down and select) Shut-Down". It does
the same thing as clicking the drop-down and selecting
restart....i.e. I can't shut-down my computer unless i
manually hold the power button in on my tower. As I'm
shure you'd understand this creates its own problems.

Rob,

Yes, I understand your reluctance...remember to also try the "repair"
option, too. Should take no more than 30 minutes and preserves most of your
registry and its settings.

Thanks again for your last post. The link to the MS
knowledgebase article was the fix and quite simple
actually. Granted it took me 2 days to figure out how to
update my BIOS, but that was the fix. I updated my BIOS
to the current ones on ASUS web and my piece is purring.
I dont know that you'll get this response, but thanks
again for your help.
