shut down problem

Hi Ravi,

Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
In Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click Power
Options.
Click the APM tab.
Check to select the Enable Advanced Power Management Support check box, and
then click OK.

If this does not help, it is possible that the standard computer HAL is
loaded while installing XP. So, the computer does not turn off. To, solve
this run a repair installation of Windows XP.

i have p4 system & loaded with win98 & xp professional
when i shut down in win98 it shut down automatically no message comes i.e.
its now safe to turn off your computer but in case of win-xp when i shut
down in last it shows message its now safe to turn off your computer i have
p-4 atx supply. what should i do

same is the case in case of 98 also some times & works properly in xp what
should i do

in windows 98 when system boot it shows windows logo & come to dos prompt. i
set this in msdos.sys file bootgui=0, i want same in winme & xp which file i
have to modify & what modification is required.
