Shut Down Options

Hi
I have XP home edition; is it possible to configure the shut down feature so
that it will include the option to facilitate downloads? I've read all the
articles in "help and support" where they talk about this feature but they
don't explain how to enable this feature. What I'm trying to do is have my
security, spyware, virus updates to place when I'm not using the computer.

You would have to write a batch file that starts the necessary
applications and executes SHUTDOWN as the last command. This batch
file can be scheduled then so that your computer turns off
automatically after the tasks have completed.
For more informations about SHUTDOWN type
SHUTDOWN /?
at a DOS prompt.

In "Help & Support", available in your Start Menu.
 
Hi, I was hoping someone could tell me how to set up my windows xp, home so
that it will automatically shut down. I am not use to automaticlly having to
turn off the comcputer

Set up a Scheduled Task for SHUTDOWN. It will shutdown your computer
at a given time.
