Shut down of Windows 2000

When I try and shut down my computer it goes from the shut
down phase to a grey screen, and will not turn off.
Can you help in any way please?

Have you looked at the event viewer? Is the only

Also, an emergency shutdown can be initiated by pressing
CTRL-ALT-DEL to bring up the Windows Security box and pressing
CTRL while clicking Shut Down
