Whats your favourite game or other piece of software which shows the Ati
Radeon 9800 Pro's graphics potential?

Not to mention the textures that come with the demo are only NORMAL.
They left out the HIGH and ULTRA HIGH textures. Can't wait to see
those myself...

||The Far Cry demo is a much better showcase.

If you have a lot of RAM and a good Proc ya...

Unreal 2004 demo should do the trick with all options at max.

UT 2003 Anubis and Avaris look good. My kids are spoilt. That's how
they think all computer graphics are. I remember my old Dragon 32.

A game based on a year old DX8 engine? Hardly.

Its been updated a bit... and so what? HALO is called a "DX9" game
since it required DX9 - but its graphics ability and performance are
not even 1/4 that of UT2003 or UT2004.

And its a DEMO... its not the complete game.

So you think UT2003/4 looks better than Far Cry?

Thank you all for your suggestions. You've given me plenty to look at.

Just go to ATI's site and do a search for "demo" I DL'ed 17 very cool demos
that way. The chimp is very nice, but try out the Gargoyle demo that's also
a screensaver. It displays a huge clock that you'll just have to see to
believe.
Tell you what I'll just give you the file names of the ones I like the best
so you find them easer:
ATI-7500-Radeon'Ark
ATI-8500-Rachel-Demo
ATI-9700-Bear-Demo
ATI-9700-CarPaint (Very cool)
ATI-9700-Bacteria-SS
ATI-9700-DebevecRNL-Demo(get this for sure)
ATI-9700-Pipedream-Demo (this one is the coolest demo I've ever seen)
ATI-9800-Caves-SS
ATI-M9000-Island1-Demo
ATI-M9000-Island2-Demo
ATI-M9000-Island3-Demo
ATI-M9000-Nature-Demo
Make sure you crank up the AA so you can really enjoy these.

I just installed my 9800Pro a couple of days ago and I spent hours looking
at these demos. I was a Nvidia guy, having had a Nvidia card since the TNT
days, and my last card was a Ti-4200. But I finally decided to try ATI. I'm
so glad I did! The first thing I noticed was how much better my 2D looked. I
run my desktop at 1280x1024 and it looks so crisp now! And the funny thing
is that now my whites are white and my grays are gray. I always had a blue
tint that I couldn't fix since I bought my 19" monitor 3 years ago. I always
thought it was the monitor! Nope, Nvidia. Anyway I'm very please with my new
card. Being able to play my games with 4x AA and 4x Aniso is something I've
always wanted to able to do.

I had the same, from ti4400 to an Ati 9500 Pro.

Colors are much clearer... and with videostream the movies look nice.
And yes it all looks just crisp! As they say already... the 2d filters
of ati might not be ..matrox filter quality...but get damn close!

but thats not possible!!! theres many in the nvidia group saying that
ATI has crappy drivers, our cards are on fire! We can't play most of
the games out there... the world is round!! Cats and dogs living
together!!

LOL! And you know I read that group for 5 years and believed all that crap!
I've got another example of the 9800Pro's power. I just installed NFS
Underground last night. I ran Fraps to see what the FPS where with different
settings (the game has settings that will cripple even my card) So after
about 40min.off messing around I finally got my FPS around 40. What was
amazing to me was that it was the game settings not the cards driver
settings that were causing me problems (the game has settings for motion
blur and light trails that when on bring the game down to 15-25FPS) I had
the game running at 40-50FPS with 2x AA no Aniso at 800x600, so I tried
bumping the AA to 4X and the resolution to 1024x768. I was shocked when the
games still ran at 40-45FPS!!
4x AA was only a dream with my Ti-4200. I've also realized just how blurry
Nvidias Quincunx made my games. I really notice it when I'm looking at water
or shiny surfaces. The water in Unreal 2 is a good example. It's like a
mirror with the 9800Pro, with my old card it was just clear. I'm also
noticing all kinds of extra details in my games I've never seen before. Like
the way the fog is rendered, or the way smoke flows stuff like that. I'll
say it again. I love my new card!! JLC

And lets not begin about the crappy PS2.0 performance of the ati
cards..so crappy. And the many worthless revisions and cheap ass
methods sleazy compagnies use. They even claim some ati cards are
actually 64-bits memory versions.. that is bad news!

And lets not start about the overheating problem.... nah.

Shhhhesh - you may start the spread of the AMD rumor about exploding
CPUs... and don't for get the blue smoke.
