Well, it took forever, but Best Buy finally got some 9600XT's in
stock, and I have one running in my Athlon 2000+, 512 meg,
Nforce2-based system. And while it looks terrific in Camelot:
Shrouded Isles and UT2k3, I'm looking for something to really show
this big shiny red hotrod off.

Any suggestions as far as game or tech demos out there?

NFS: Underground will be propably be a good showcase (once released) atleast
judging from the demo.

Ps. Again, judging from the demo, that's all it seems to be good for...not
much game there to speak of (here's hoping there will be something other
then really, really arcade style racing in the final release)

Mmm, I like Aquamark 3

I did the benchmark on my Hercules 3D Prophet 9500 Pro and damn...
fluent.... shinny..nice.

But yes, the NFS: Underground demo should be something for you to look
at. The effects they used on the roads/cars.. and such. You should
definitly look at the lightening and how your new card is able to have
so damn much different sources of light and yet perform freaking great
:-)

My ISP was giving me trouble to post....What version drivers came with the
card?

Thanks

Bill

YOU GOT ONE?! What the fetch?! So do all Best Buy's have em now?
Its not on their site? But its in-store? I sure hope your right
brother, cuz i WANT ONE BAD!

I'm afraid I couldn't tell you, as I updated to the newest Cats as
soon as I had the card working.

Morrowind and "Pirates of the Caribbean". Turn up all the eye candy.

Morrowind looks the same on all videocards, exept those without pixel
shaders. Cards without pixeshaders don't have reflective water surface, but
everything else is same. Allso there is no "eye candy" to turn on in
Morrowind.

how about trueform with the morrowind fps optimizer? looks much nicer but
unfortunately it degraded my performance if i used any of the "optimizing"
options exept the n-patch section

I tried it, but iz crashes Morrowind on my system, and also there are
polygons missing, you could say every other or third polygon is missing.
Just like in the ATI n-patch demo.

I got one too!! THIS CARD IS AMAZING!!! holy cow. on 3dmark 2003 it
blows my old 9600 out of the water by 2000 points. Overdrive rocks
to, raises points by 50 in 2003. Great card well worth the money for
the card alone, AND HALF-LIFE TWO?! quit a deal. OH by the way if
anyone is wondering...it is AT BEST BUY!! look up on the hidden
shelves, its not on there normal stocking shelves yet....but just ask
or go looking ITS THERE!!!! i saw it by accident. The guy had to
walk me up to the counter because it didnt have a security tag on it
yet ;-) Im off to play call of duty FULL DETAIL! HAVE FUN!!!!

So far, it's pretty cool. I'm still doing the 'instant action' missions.
Once you finish some of the missions, you can fly around and check out the
scenery. Started the actual game and going from mission to mission is kinda
weird. You have to click on a bunch of links, on the main ship and then on
people's names to keep the plot going. But, the game play is great. Has
two different modes...simulation mode and fps mode. Simulation mode makes
the ship handle realistically. But, it's kind of difficult to maneuver that
way while your trying to blast enemies!

The graphics and music are kick ass.

Sounds interesting.
