showing filename when in thumbnail view?

is it possible to display the filename when in thumbnail
view?

somehow i turned this off and I cannot figure how to get
it back

thanks - I know how to turn the view to thumbnails - what
I want to know if it is possible to display the filenames
under each thumbnail when it is in thumbnail view. Is
that possible?

That's what happens on my computer.

Do you see filenames when you switch to a different view, like details
or icon?

Are "Auto Align" and "Align to Grid" checked in the "Arrange Icons
by..." option of the View menu?

It appears that the grid size of thumbnail view is fixed, but is it
possible that your grid size is too small and the filenames are hidden
underneath the pictures?
