showing external data in the outlook calendar

Hi,

We are currently working on an application that has its own
calendar data, stored in a database. We would like our
users to be able to see their data from both our database
and Outlook in one place, ideally in the Outlook UI.

Is there any way of plugging into the Outlook calendar so
that we could show our data mixed in with the Outlook data?
We are targeting Outlook 2003. I know that we can create
another calendar using the sharepoint model, but this does
not really get us what we want. We want one calendar
displaying both sets of data, not two sepearate calendars.
We would also like our data to be available in other
places. One example is when scheduling an appointment in
Outlook. We would like the attendee availability tab to
show busy status based on both sets of data.

Is this type of integration possible?

AFAIK only by copying or synching the data into the Outlook data store.
Otherwise no.
