I have recently started working with Visual Basic .NET.
Having very little experiance in VB .NET, I am starting
from the gound up with very simple programs. One of my
first task to achieve is accessing an AS/400 data file (
in real time located on the AS400) and displaying it on a
webpage over the internet. I am wanting to acheive this
by placing the data in a data grid on the web page.

I have been working with entry level (tutorials) programs
that access data from a "Microsoft Access" data base and
place them on a data grid but I am now needing to move on
and create a real time working program that will access
the AS400 data.

Can anyone suggest a starting point for me or offer a web
site that might start me in the right direction.

I am running the following setup:

Web Server: Windows 2003
AS/400: iSeries 850
Visual Studio: 2003
Program Language: Visual Basic .NET and ASP.NET

Any help is very much appreciated.

Thanks

Andy

Andy,

You will need to install ClientAccess on your PC. Not sure about the
current version but it will have at the minimum the ODBC drivers, so you can
use the System.Data.ODBC namespace.
