hi,

this is a minor, yet irritating. I set the windows content to show while
dragging, but after every reboot, it reverts to the unchecked setting..

How do I get this option to hold function? Is there a registry hack? or is
there some setting that is making it revert back?

I'm running XP Pro SP2, all updates in place except for the MSIE v7, I'm
still using v6.0 (though I don't believe it's related to my issue)

I set this option by going into Control Panel/System/Advanced tab -
Performance Settings.... check the box []show windows content while
dragging

any wisdom?

thanks,
niteowl

It might be a security program blocking the Registry change it needs to
make. A few of the programs now doing this are:
Ad-aware's Ad-Watch
IBM Access Connections
McAfee VirusScan and/or Antispyware
Norton AV
Spyware Blaster
Spybot> Tools> IE Tweaks
Spybot- Teatimer
Spysweeper
Windows Defender
Zone Alarm (free) 6.5 Reported to be fixed in later versions.

In the case of Zone Alarm 6.5 or Norton 2007 it actually has to be
uninstalled. Make sure the Windows Firewall is turned on until you
reinstall Zone Alarm.

Boot into Safe Mode with Networking with Networking and try the change.

Hi niteowl,

See here for more information, and a workaround.

"Show windows contents while dragging" option is disabled after a restart:
