Show recipients but restrict access to e-mail addresses

I am using Outlook 2003. I have figured out how - using the Display As field
- to show recipient names in the To field of a mail message without the
e-mail address showing. However, I've just learned that any recipients that
are using Outlook can determine the e-mail address of the other people who
received the message just by placing their cursor on the other names. Is
there a way to block this function? I want each recipient to know who else
received the message but not give them access to each other's e-mail
addresses.

Of course not. That's why this is such a useless exercise. Email addresses
are always discoverable within the email header no matter what you try to
put in the To: field.
The only way to hide addresses is to use the BCC field, in Outlook or any
other email program.

Thanks for the information. I do think this would be a valuable enhancement
for Outlook and something the developers should consider for the future.
There are many times where you want to show the names of everyone who
received the correspondence but you don't want to share everyone's e-mail
address. (This is like, in the old days, showing a cc at the end of a
letter. This let everyone know who received a copy of the letter without
providing a mailing address for each person.)

Our previous e-mail system was Pegasus and it enabled us to send a message
to a distribution list with only the name of the list showing in the To
field. This would also be a good enhancement to Outlook. I always thought
that Pegasus also allowed us on other messages to just show the name of the
recipients (without an e-mail address) but I may have been misinformed.
