show preview during capture

When I capture video, I cannot turn off the preview. I am using an ATI
Radeon 64 DDR VIVO (yes, its old) and a Sony analog camcorder. In the capture
wizard I don't see this option, in fact, I believe it completely skips the
"Capture Mthod" window. Is this feature only available for digital cameras?
is there something I can do (editing registry or something) to to turn it off?
 
WHy do you want to turn it off?

To be honest, if you've got an analogue cam to work with MM then I wouldn't
mess around, as it may well stop!!!!!

I want to turn it off to improve capture quality, I read in many websites
that this helps, among other things.
