Show Percent on Data Labels

In Excel 2000, I've created a non-stacked vertical bar
chart. I would like to show percent of total on the data
labels of each bar while retaining the actual data value
on the Y-axis scale. Can this be done? Under the Format
Data Series/Data Labels tab, the "Show percent" option is
grayed out.
