Show Level N in Document Map

I'm using Word 2003 on Windows XP. I'm in Normal View by default, and
use the Document Map to navigate a large document. However, in order
to collapse away all heading levels in the Document Map besides
Heading 1, I have to collapse each Heading 1 entry individually, or
activate the Outline toolbar to Show Level 1. Is there a way to
ensure that the Outline toolbar doesn't go away by default whenever
I'm not in Outline View? I find switching between Normal and Outline
View very inconvenient because I lose my place in the document,
especially when Document Map is used. Having to activate the Outline
Toolbar is not the greatest alternative because it takes so many menu
navigations and mouse clicks just to collapse headings, and my 1K
brain often forgets what I was doing.

Paul,

Right click on the document map window to bring up, among other things,
a list of heading styles. Pick one

Also works on non-heading styles with an outline level selected.

That's amazing. Thanks.
